Summer Travel Must Haves

Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Summer is finally here! If you’re like most, you probably have a vacation lined up for summer. Summer traveling is the perfect time to soak up the sun, get a tan, and indulge in some R&R. Get your packing list together and make sure these summer travel essentials make it into your bag before your trip.

1. Sunscreen

This is a no brainer, especially if you plan on lounging at the beach or poolside. Keep your skin beautiful and cancer free by remembering to pack your sunscreen! You can always pick up some sunscreen in the hotel lobby or convenience store if you forget, but you’re likely to pay a little more.

2. Chapstick

Chapstick is another must when dealing with summer weather conditions.

3. Deodorant

Sweat protection is key during the hot summer months! This is another item you can easily pick up at a convenience store if you forget, but packing beforehand might save you a few bucks.

4. Bug Repellent

Warm weather and humidity bring out the bugs, and chances are you’ll be spending a significant amount of time outdoors enjoying the summer weather. Protect yourself from mosquitoes and other insects that could potentially be carrying diseases and pick up some bug repellent before your trip.

Our friends at Bug Bite Thing make a great "must have" that gives you instant relief if you do get bit. We never leave home with out our Bug Bite Thing.

5. Camera

Another no brainer, don’t forget to take your camera along on your trip. If at all possible grab a waterproof camera for fun underwater photos.

6. A Book

Summer vacations are all about relaxing and getting away from it all. Instead of browsing through the internet or watching a movie on your phone or tablet, disconnect and grab a good old-fashioned paperback book. You won’t have to worry about your ebook reader’s battery going dead while you’re lounging on the beach and there’s something to be said about flipping through the pages of a real book.

7. Sandals/Flip Flops

If you’re going to be by the pool or any other body of water, don’t forget to pack a pair of sandals. There’s nothing worse than getting sand in your shoes or ending up with wet shoes because you’ve forgotten your water appropriate footwear.

8. A Jacket/Sweater

This one might not have made it onto your packing list but you should probably throw it in your suitcase anyways. You never know when the weather won’t go as planned and sometimes evenings can get chilly even in the warmest of destinations.

9. Hand Sanitizer

When was the last time you entered a fully stocked beach bathroom?? If you’re enjoying the water in the great outdoors chances are you might encounter less than adequate restrooms or no restroom at all! Keep your hand sanitizer handy wherever you go and you’ll be covered.

10. Moisturizers

Hanging out in the sun all day can be taxing on your skin, even when using sunscreen. Pack a high-quality lotion with aloe that will help soothe dry skin at the end of the day. Don’t forget to pack your face lotion as well!

11. Hat

Do yourself a favor and don’t forget a hat! Keeping the sun off of your face even with sunscreen is key to keeping your skin healthy and youthful.

12. Wireless Speaker

Bluetooth speakers are a great addition to your summer vacation. They are compact, portable, and you won’t have to hassle with wires when you want to listen to music while lounging or hanging out with friends and family.
